Elephant and Photographers in Ngorongoro Crater

My new photo safaris in 2016 are ready and now listed on my site. Both are amazing 11-day, 10-night safaris where you will stay at exclusive camps right in the parks. I’ve designed them to put you right in the middle of the action so you can come home with great images.

Both safaris hit the best locations in Tanzania’s northern circuit:

  • We start with 2 nights at a lodge within Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is not as well known as places like the Serengeti but that just means fewer crowds. It is one of my favorite locations and I always come away with great images. It is full of beautiful landscapes, enormous baobab trees, and is full of wildlife.
  • Next is 2 nights at the Ngorongoro Crater – an ancient caldera considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The Crater is teeming with herd animals, birds, and of course, predators! On my last trip, we saw male lions feasting on a freshly killed buffalo, sparring with hyenas who wanted a piece of the prize.
  • We then head out for 5 nights in the legendary Serengeti. For both safaris, we stay near the migration herds. In March, our camp is in the midst of the short-grass plains in the southern Serengeti – we’re there at the end of foaling season so there should be young wildebeest and zebras. In October, we stay further north in the kopjes of the central Serengeti.
  • We also visit a Maasai boma for an amazing cultural photographic opportunity.
